Cube Zero: Mystery movie

Eric and Dodd receive orders to document the dreams of Cassandra Rains. In her dream, Eric is captured while walking in a forest with his daughter Anna. When she wakes, Cassandra meets the others in the Cube. One man, Robert Haskell, has a tattoo matching that of the soldier who captured her, yet he, like the others, cannot remember his past. Eric believes everyone in the Cube is on death row and must choose between entering the Cube with erased memories or facing execution.

The film centers on a Cube technician, Eric Wynn, and a woman named Cassandra Rains, who is trapped in the Cube. It starts with Ryjkin attempting to escape but getting sprayed with a liquid he thinks is water, only to find his body disintegrating. Eric observes this with his colleague Dodd. Later, Eric sketches Dodd while playing chess, ignoring the board. After winning, he inquires about their missing coworkers, but Dodd advises him against asking too many questions about the Cube.

Entry requires signing a consent form, which Eric realizes Cassandra does not have, leading him to argue with Dodd to inform their superiors. As he prepares to contact his superiors, the phone rings. They’re told to initiate “escape procedures” for a subject at the Cube’s exit facing a final test. It turns out to be Owen, a former colleague. When asked if he believes in God and answering no, he is instantly incinerated. Eric argues with Dodd about this outcome. Realizing the Cube’s cruelty, Eric decides to enter it to assist Cassandra’s escape.

Jax, a supervisor, and two analysts arrive at the control room to prevent Eric from aiding Cassandra. Despite their efforts, Eric and Cassandra reach the escape room, aided by Dodd, who sabotages the Cube’s controls and pays for it with his life at Jax’s hands. The sabotage triggers the Cube’s “reset mode,” which vaporizes any living beings inside after a certain time. Eric and Cassandra escape the “escape room” through a hidden exit, but soldiers find them. Cassandra gets away, but Eric is hit with a dart and loses consciousness.

He wakes up in an operating room to Jax, who informs him that while Cassandra might have escaped, Eric has been charged with “treason” and “sabotage” against his country and God. He’s sentenced to “two lifetimes” with a brain microchip to be implanted. Jax claims Eric was tried and shows him a consent form, stating he was an observer in the Cube. Eric dreams of Cassandra reuniting with her daughter and calling him a “superhero.” Ultimately, Eric undergoes a lobotomy to erase his intelligence, and in the end, he is seen in the Cube with other victims of government experiments.
